Leading during difficult times

What we need today

It is quite extraordinary what we have been experiencing at home, our communities, and across the globe. We have seen many advancements in science, health, knowledge, education, arts, music, communications, and many more areas. In spite of these, we continue to witness a pandemic scenario, wars, violence, famine, climate changes, disparities, a challenging global economy, all of which put in evidence the gaps in the evolution of our global village. We have the ingredients to make this world a better place for everyone but we need the leadership to make it happen.

We should not think of this leadership as a realm only for world leaders, politicians and the rich. It will not be difficult to recognize that this traditional concept of leadership has lead us nowhere near where we should or we need to be. Leadership needs to be present across the globe, at each country, each community, and each home. Strong foundations are critical for a solid structure, whether it is a building, an organization, or a family. But, how can we lead at all levels when our governments, communities, institutions and homes are affected by corruption, discrimination, poor access to opportunities, poor health, and limited role models? It is not a straight-forward path.

At this point in our journey as a human race, we must leave behind the decades-old focus on individuality. Only when we think, care and act with compassion and selflessness, we will move towards a better global society. It is a cycle of interdependent relationships and leadership: from the bottom up (home, family), across sectors (communities, governments) and from the top (country and world leaders) down towards social and political institutions, and to the nuclear family.

We probably know of people who are change agents within the fabric of our families, communities,or even beyond. It is possible that changes were made possible by “regular” people, citizens who decided to exert their leadership to fight for an idea of what is good and fair.

As an entrepreneur, my mission is to contribute to a better global society by supporting people, organizations and projects in the healthcare and research ecosystems. We support nonprofit organizations in their quest for making a difference in their communities. We embrace a socially-concious business model that shows solidarity with other businesses, professionals and communities. A healthcare project or a clinical study that can be a life-changing event for one person can become a new alternative for others, The possibility of significant positive changes are endless. This could be a pardigm shift in how we envision leadership.

We can all be leaders.

This is a call to action.

Remember that life is short, and the world is wide.
